Your beauty cannot be surpassed, you have me in a spell,
And what that spell can mean to us, well time can only tell,
Time, she said is just the way we’ve organized our mind,
And Faith will not be recognized, by those who are not blind
Love, She Said is just a dream of a princess long ago,
And fate is just for selling bits of wisdom to the slow
Truth is just the fiction that perception is the word,
And fear, of course, the cattle brand, the dogs that drive the herd.
So where are we my bonny lass, said I unsure afraid,
Are we just the bits of flesh that randomness has made?
Or can our beings intertwine to make us greater still,
Or are these the lies of the bartender who’s making out the bill.
You are me and I am you she said without a pause,
Connected through infinities of effect and cause,
Each of us an island that’s the hard unspoken rule,
And he who builds a boat, she said, is both a saint and fool.
Don’t you know that I have seen the contents of your soul,
And don’t you know that I have dreamed of futures we may hold
See here on my sleeve these are the stains of deeds undone,
Am I all the others though you tell me I’m the one.
And so we drank and danced and fucked
And so we laughed and sang
While over us a shadow loomed that grew and then took wing,
Speaking tounges and volumes to our unconscious minds at play.
We must keep on dancing ‘til the shadow names the day.
We must keep on dancing ‘til the shadow names the day
It's a masterstroke of self-expression. However dark some of the statements may be in many of these songs, I love to hear Erica find new ways to tell the story of living in this world of trial and stupid asses -and decent folks. I enjoy the reality, but I find when I travel about, I thrill to the sound of optimism that "When We Were Young" exudes. I picture the dance floor at a Columbian Exposition, as we all pat ourselves on the back 'cause we are so exceptional - even if it ain't exactly true. silverwarrior
Newly discovered band for me so this was a blind purchase. Found it to be a stirring and deeply philosophical work. The soundscapes are great and the instrumental tracks add some variety. Matthew Adlard
